Member Profile: Noor Al-Henedy
(She/Her)
Noor Al-Henedy is a Palestinian Canadian communications strategist, community advocate, and public servant with over a decade of experience in strategic communications and public engagement. Currently serving as a Communications Advisor with the City of Edmonton, she leads complex communications strategies that support inclusive, city-wide programs.
A passionate advocate for equity, anti-racism, and social justice, Noor contributes to national policy work through her involvement with the National Council of Canadian Muslims (NCCM) and serves on the Steering Committee for the Anti-Islamophobia Research Hub at York University, where she helps shape national discourse on Islamophobia and anti-Palestinian racism. She also supports humanitarian and advocacy efforts through partnerships with organizations such as Islamic Relief Canada and Human Concern International.
Noor serves on several boards and committees that reflect her wide-reaching commitment to community-building, including the Al Rashid Foundation Foundation of Canada, the Edmonton Local Immigration Partnership (ELIP) Council, the Phoenix Society, and the Women’s Advisory Voice of Edmonton (WAVE) Committee. She is deeply committed to gender equity, women's leadership, and inclusive policy making, consistently working to amplify the voices and lived experiences of women and marginalized communities.
This commitment was powerfully embodied in her historic appointment as the first female Chair of the Al Rashid Mosque Board. In this role, Noor not only leads major community initiatives but also serves as a visible and inspiring example of Muslim women in leadership — breaking barriers and creating space for others to rise.
Her work often involves building bridges between the Muslim community and public institutions, including law enforcement, government, and interfaith partners. From shaping communications during moments of crisis to mobilizing communities in support of human rights and dignity, Noor is known for her ability to bring people together and move initiatives forward with empathy, clarity, and resolve.
At her core, Noor believes in the power of education, mentorship, and collective leadership to drive lasting change. Whether she is crafting messages that shift public understanding or mentoring the next generation of advocates, she remains a steadfast force for justice, unity, and empowerment.
